BETHLEHEM SUNDAY: Making Advent’s Sanctuary a house of bread.

Bethlehem is a Hebrew word and means a house of bread. As part of our outreach ministry effort to serve our neighbors, we have designated December 17th, the Third Sunday of Advent to be Bethlehem Sunday. On that Sunday, we encourage all people to bring purchased plastic-wrapped loaves of bread, no homemade bread. The bread will be blessed and delivered to New Hope food pantry. Let us make our Sanctuary Bethlehem, a house of bread!

THURSDAY NIGHT BOOK STUDY GROUP - Come join Advent's book study group as it opens up Rachel Held Evans' book Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again. The book is born of Evans' questions, like "If the Bible isn't a science book or an instruction manual, then what is it? What do people mean when they say the Bible is inspired? How is the Bible meant to be read?" We meet virtually from 7-8 p.m. Thursdays, led by Bishop Roger, at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87144558570

Wherever you happen to be on your journey of faith today, you're welcome here.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

DECEMBER 24TH, 10:00 a.m. Worship service - 4th Sunday in Advent

NEW FOR 2024

LADIES BIBLE STUDY GROUP is currently on hiatus, but we will begin a new study in January (dates to be determined) on Women of the Old Testament, a Life Guide Bible Study.  Carla Boster has graciously volunteered to lead this study and has purchased 10 books. The books are $4.50, and they will be available at the bible study in January. Looking forward to an interesting look at the ladies in the Old Testament. We may have one December study on Christmas hymns. More info to come on that.

NEW OUTREACH MINISTRY! GATHERING TABLE - Help prep & serve a hot lunch, eat and worship with members of Gathering Table, an ELCA church welcoming inner-city homeless. Fourth Saturday monthly, approximately 8:45am-12:30pm, starting January 27, 2024. We'll carpool from Advent's parking lot. Please add your name to the list of interested volunteers by emailing Andrea Hodges at wwandrea08@gmail.com. We'll also post a Sign-up Genius link in January.
